Alcea security policy recognized at national level

On October 17, 2011, during the event “Safety, Health, Environment and Corporate Social Responsibility National Day” organized by Federchimica, Alcea received the “best company experiences Award” [ Premio migliori esperienze aziendali] at the auditorium of Federchimica .

The “Safety, Health, Environment and Corporate Social Responsibility National Day” was established on the occasion of the renewal of the chemical and pharmaceutical National Labour Collective Agreement on November 18th 2009, in order to support and promote the sector commitment, valorize the good company practices and to pursue a positive relationship, a constructive dialogue and effective synergies with both institutions and community.

With the agreement of January 20th, 2011 has been determined to award, during the National day, the best business experiences realized in the plan of social responsibility; these experiences should be related to the issues of health safeguard, safety in the workplace and the respect for the environment or however should be numbered among the initiatives of contractual welfare.

In this first edition, the prize has been awarded to 3 important companies in the chemical and pharmaceutical sector (Alcea, 3M Italia, Merck Serono); the award ceremony was attended by Alcea Sole Administrator, engineer Carlo Maria Parodi, accompanied by a company delegation.

These are the award’s reasons as reported in Federchimica press release:

"For their efforts in spreading the culture of safety at work through various initiatives aimed to inform, to train and to actively involve their employees as well as for the awareness campaign performed outside the company, especially with the children’s involvement intended as a warning to promote security as a ground social value".

The echo of Alcea initiatives also reached one of the leading global chemical reality, the Radici Group (Gruppo Radici), who invited Alcea to present its route and experience during their own event for “Safety, Health, Environment and Corporate Social Responsibility National Day” that took place on October 25 at their headquarters.

The event was attended by our production plant manager, Mr. Paolo Nava, who spoke to an audience of experts, trade unions and employee representatives introducing a wide presentation entitled "A new company route for managing safety at work: the Alcea experience" (Un nuovo percorso aziendale per la gestione della sicurezza di fabbrica: l'esperienza Alcea srl).

The speech pointed out the steps that Alcea has done from 2008 to present on the path towards the goal of "Zero injuries and Zero accidents".

But the main message that Nava has launched to the audience was as follows:

"The issue of the factory security can be solved only with the direct involvement and participation of the worker, also bringing his experiences about safety on work even outside the boundaries of the factory".
